The biggest one? She's a werewolf. Love's quick pacing keeps the reader on their toes as they devour Elizabeth's story.
Elizabeth, also known as Lizzie to her brothers, has gone to live in a small town in West Virginia with her brother, Christian. She's a research scientist with a lab in her barn. Elizabeth is working on a cure for lycanthropy along with the help of her mentor, Dr. Fowler. After realizing another serum of hers has failed, Lizzie goes to hang out at Christian's bar.
Jensen Adler is a veterinarian who has just recently returned to town. He's out on a date with some of his friends when Lizzie walks into the bar. The minute their eyes connect, there's a chemistry neither can deny. Jensen ditches his pals and leaves the bar with Lizzie. They have a wild night of lovemaking in his truck. Lizzie's quick to leave, embarrassed by how bold she was with Jensen.
Despite the suddenness of their encounter, Jensen is deeply attracted to Lizzie. He wants to see her again, but she tries to avoid him. Lizzie wages a war between her heart and mind. She's never been attracted to a man the way she is to Jensen, but he's a human and she's a werewolf. Lizzie thinks it won't work between them.
Jensen determinedly pursues Lizzie and she can't deny her heart. Their coming together is a powerful lovemaking act. They christen his kitchen table and her house. Finally, Lizzie tries one last desperate time to push Jensen away with a cold, impersonal note. He goes a date with another woman. When Lizzie spies them at the bar, she breaks down. Jensen takes the other woman home and goes back to the bar. Lizzie gives into her heart and agrees to date Jensen.
Things get complicated when Brody, Lizzie's old mate, shows up wanting to get back together with her. Brody's stalking threatens to expose Lizzie's secret. When Jensen learns his lover is a werewolf, will he embrace her love or deny her?
Once again, Kathy Love weaves a suspenseful paranormal romance. Her characters are rich and dynamic. The reader wants to see Jensen with Lizzie even though he's human. Love's dialogue is engaging and modern. Her writing is crisp. Love writes in a "Lonesome Dove" point of view with no clear divisions or line breaks in perspective. This can be disconcerting for some readers. The love scenes sizzle with vivid description. "My Sister is a Werewolf" is a riveting romantic escape.
